Seasons Greetings, looking back and looking forward

Stevie ThompsonNews

It’s that time of year where we are taking stock and busily planning for exciting things ahead.

This year we piloted a new project – Story Threads, with a wonderful group in Hazelmere Library. We hope that we can extend this warm-hearted, joyful work to more libraries and community centres in the future. To see the work, check out our gallery:

Babble – a play with sound, continued to entertain families, playing a number of theatres and festivals this year. We had a blast, creating lots of new music with our new friends in each show. Check out the page – Babble Resources on our website to find sound activities to play and music to listen to.  If you haven’t listened to your special show music yet, don’t forget you had a QR code at the performance.  If you can’t find it, we can try and help you access it again. Get in touch with information about where you saw the show and which performance time to: info@flibbertigibbettheatre.co.uk

We want to send our love to those who have lost someone this year. Bob Goody, a wonderful comic actor, a friend of ours, died earlier this year. Many also knew Howard Coggins from Living Spit Theatre, who died in November. They are missed, and we are thinking of friends and family at this time.

There have been some devasting funding cuts on the artistic landscape this year, effecting organisations, colleagues and friends of ours, locally and nationally. Some have been able to create something new, some are taking time to take stock, and some have had to stop completely, with a loss of years of experience, knowledge and craft within our sector.  We are sad to see the loss of Theatre Bristol, who supported us in developing as a company, with practical advice, as well as supportive cups of tea and conversation. We wish everyone well after a really hard year.

Looking forward to next year, we are excited to be making our new show, an adaptation of The Farmer and The Clown, which will be on tour from from February. There will be lots more posts about this as we go into rehearsals in January!

The tour schedule is on the front page of our website. You can also join our mailing list – sign up on our website.

Our new show is about creating connections and friendships. This year, we have met some wonderful people, creative collaborators and audiences, who have supported, guided, and enriched our work. Thank you! We hope everyone finds rest, peace and joy, however you spend the season. We look forward to sharing time with you next year. Flibbertigibbet Theatre x
